As the days slowly go by, protests continue to fill the streets and social media is on a complete Blackout. And when I say blackout, I am referring to the amount of coverage I see about BLACK issues and the BLACK lives matter movement. It is truly inspiring to see my people from all over the nation and all over the world unite and work towards making a change. It’s also really inspiring to see my generation take such a big role in leading these movements as well as inform others about it. Though I am happy about what I’m seeing, there is still more to do. There will forever be more to do. I am writing this post to inform others of ways they can make a change. I want our communities to thrive. I want to see thousands of “Black Walls streets” all around the world. Whether it is by supporting various black businesses, black organizations, black resources, or doing your part to donate and sign petitions. It is time to walk the walk and not talk the talk. Obviously there is a plethora of things we can do to take action and businesses we can support but this is a start. Shirley Chisholm said “You don’t make progress by standing on the sidelines, whimpering and complaining. You make progress by implementing ideas” So just remember to always educate yourself and others and be the change you want to see.
